Our CEO Kevin Kviblad shares the driving focus behind Urb-it’s transformation in recent years, and what this means for the future
In 2021 we have grown significantly. We can’t have achieved any of this without the hard work and dedication of our team and the support of our shareholders. I am delighted this year we have seen so many colleagues truly grow with our business, and that we have welcomed so many new colleagues to be part of our journey. I am also incredibly grateful to our shareholders for their funding and commitment through our growth.
When I joined Urb-it in 2018, we wanted to make this the best company we have ever worked for. We pledged to work together to do this by truly creating a positive impact through everything we do.
We were a delivery company - but we were able to be so much more than that. We wanted to have a positive impact on our customers and consumers’ delivery experiences - but also impact where we operate on the environment and air quality in the cities, impact the congestion in the cities and impact our ways of working and how our couriers and employees are supported and grow.
In short, we wanted to build a company that can both do good and be successful.
To demonstrate our commitment, we wanted to get independent verification of this. We looked for what would support both our social and environmental impact mission, and we found B-Corp. Our successful B-Corp certification a year ago is in line with our aspirations to commit to our continuous improvement journey, through placing purpose alongside profit in how and what we do, both today and in the future.
Over the past year we have invested in and built our infrastructure, teams, fleet and capabilities across both our current markets, France and the UK. We recently launched in Glasgow, our ninth city, and today we conduct sustainable delivery services on foot, bike and through our e-cargo fleet, partnering with both the logistics sector and global and emerging brands.
We recently welcomed new investors and raised funds to continue to invest to grow and expand, while making the cities where we operate healthier. There is so much more we can achieve to deliver the positive impact, and growth, we want to.
We have reviewed our vision, mission and values to ensure these demonstrate our ambitions to create a positive impact through the next phase of our growth. The vision which we are aspiring to is to transform urban logistics, one delivery at a time. How we strive to achieve this will be supported by our mission – to deliver urban logistics services that create a positive impact on society & the environment.
Our values – service, respect and determination - remain more important than ever to unite our teams and support how we build our global brand through the next phase of growth. We will continue to give these meaning in our everyday interactions – and we remain thoroughly committed, and excited, about our journey as a B Corp certified business.
It is clear that the world has never needed more focus on how we fix the problems that are causing climate change and environmental and societal damage. We are humbled by the role we are able to play in addressing this through our sustainable delivery services in cities and urban locations.
Going forward we will strive to create a positive impact on the environment and society more than ever, as we transform urban logistics.
